Downtown Greenville homes are loaded with charm, stories, and architectural details. Many new homeowners are drawn to the downtown lifestyle and to these one of a kind homes like this one.

The home’s original beauty is hidden by an old wood awning, that served its purpose by shading the porch while awaiting the growth of newly planted trees. Decaying wood posts that need repainting every few years are peeling weary looking.

The Palmetto Outdoor Spaces Team, recommended removing the awning to allow for filtered light to pass through onto the porch. We can see in the after photo the shadows of the tree leaves cast onto the house wall. The porch looks so inviting. I imagine passersby look up at the porch to see if anyone is out there enjoying a cool afternoon.

The Team replaced the decaying wood support posts with extruded aluminum 6″ x 6″ square powder coated posts. This choice eliminates the need to paint or sand. Posts (columns) can be sprayed with a hose during yearly maintenance.

The 2 x 4 wood verticals were eliminated. The team installed a 2″ x 2″ square aluminum chair rail, requested by the homeowner.

All other 2 x 4 wood framing was removed and made way for 1″ x 2″ aluminum screen framing extrusions that were added to the porch floor, underside of the beams, house wall and new 6″ x 6″ posts. No painting is required.

All of the debris was hauled away. Some materials were offered to our employees and friends free. What was leftover and could be donated to Habitat to Humanity was dropped off.

The aluminum screen framing extrusion has a spline channel that tucks flat screen spline tightly. This channel allows for large spanned screened openings.

The customer selected a beautiful PCA Products Still Water model screen door with an 8-inch tall kickplate. PCA Products is located in Sevierville, Tennessee. They offer the highest quality screen doors with the best and longest warranty on the market.

The customer chose our stocked Super Screen mesh, a PVC coated polyester heavy duty mesh that is tear resistant and has a 45% UV block coating. Super Screen allows for great outward views, while helping reduce heat gain and glare.
